Qualified high school seniors admitted as freshmen to Tusculum University may at the time of admission to the College be directly admitted to the nursing major.

Selection is highly competitive and based primarily on academic achievement at the high school level and scores on the ACT and/or SAT.  Freshman admission to the nursing major guarantees placement in the nursing program in the sophomore year to students who remain in good standing while enrolled in their freshman year at Tusculum University and who continue to meet ALL of the  Nursing Program admission requirements, including overall grade point average and math/science grade point average.  For high school seniors to be eligible for freshman admission, they must:

• Have completed high school Algebra I, Algebra II, Biology, and Chemistry with a grade of “C” or better,
• Have an ACT composite score of 24 or higher (composite SAT score of 1090 or higher based on verbal and math),
• Have an ACT English subscore of 20 or higher (SAT English subscore of 470 or higher),
• Have an ACT math subscore of 22 or higher (SAT math subscore 520 or higher),
• Graduate from high school with a cumulative GPA of 3.000 or higher on the final (graduation) high school transcript,
• Obtain admission to Tusculum University as a degree seeking undergraduate student, and
• Submit the nursing program application by the published deadline for high school seniors.

Freshmen applicants will be rank-ordered on the basis of the calculated point system indicated below.

(Cumulative high school quality point average x 100) + (ACT score x 10)

OR

(Cumulative high school quality point average x 100) + (SAT score x 0.22)

If an applicant does not meet criteria for Freshman Admission, he/she may apply for admission to the nursing program at the end of their first year in University .
