Dr. Katherine Everhart joined Tusculum University in 2017 and serves as associate professor of sociology. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 1999, her Master of Arts in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2006, and her Ph.D. in sociology from Vanderbilt University in 2016.

She comes to Tusculum from Northern Arizona University, where she taught undergraduate courses, such as Sociology of Gender, Race and Ethnic Relations, and her favorite, Black Feminisms of Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj, and graduate courses in Qualitative Research Methods.

Her dissertation examined the role of art and culture in the 62-day occupation of the University of Puerto Rico in 2010. She is also interested in conducting future research on minor league baseball, the role of allies in activism and commercial gentrification in Nashville.
