Dr. Heather Henson-Ramsey received a BS in Biology from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington in 1995. From 1995-1999, Heather was a veterinary student at North Carolina State University. She graduated with her DVM in 1999, receiving special recognition for her work in wildlife and zoological veterinary medicine. Dr. Henson-Ramsey served as a veterinary intern at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (C.R.O.W) on Sanibel Island, FL from 1999 to 2000 and then worked as small animal practitioner at DeBary Animal Clinic for two years.
Intrigued by the toxicological issues that she saw during her work with wildlife, Heather completed a PhD program at North Carolina State University investigating the effects of organophosphates on an earthworm-salamander food chain. Dr. Henson-Ramsey then spent 12 years at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, ID serving first as a faculty member and then transitioning to the Chair of the Division of Natural Science and Mathematics.
Dr. Henson-Ramsey joined the Tusculum family in 2019 as Dean of the College of Science, Technology, and Mathematics. Heather teaches courses in anatomy/physiology, epidemiology, and environmental toxicology. She is a strong proponent of faculty-student research collaborations and the importance of science education as a part of a general education curriculum.
