REFUND POLICY

Tusculum University has outlined a plan to issue an emergency relief grant for room and board charges for the remainder of the spring semester due to the unforeseen circumstances that have occurred with the COVID-19 virus.

The prorated period in consideration is from March 21, 2020, (the official campus closing date) or the day the student left campus, whichever is later, through the last day of the spring semester, May 8, 2020. Grant amounts are individualized and will vary student by student based on factors including residence halls, room type, meal plan and institutional scholarships awarded during the 2019/2020 academic year.

Students will receive communication beginning next week to their student email account if they are going to be receiving a relief grant. We anticipate having all emails sent by April 22. Grants from financial aid will not be issued to student accounts until Tusculum receives emergency relief funding from the federal CARES Act.

Students graduating May or August 2020

  • The grant amount will be reflected on your student account as financial aid.
  • If you still owe a balance to the university, the grant will be applied toward your balance.
  • Students who received institutional financial aid for their spring semester housing and meal plans will be reviewed on an individual basis to determine their grant amount.
  • If this grant results in a refund on your student account, a check will be issued to your home address within 14 days of the credit posting on your account.
  • If your address on file with the school is not current, please update that information with the Registrar’s Office to ensure your check is sent to the appropriate location.
  • If you have a Parent PLUS loan on your account, the check will be addressed to the parent on the PLUS loan unless we have a signed authorization form on file.
  • If you would like to donate all or a portion of this amount to either the university or a needy student, please contact financialaid@tusculum.edu for more information on that process.

Returning students for fall 2020

  • The grant amount will be reflected on your student account as financial aid.
  • If you still owe a balance to the university, the grant will be applied toward your outstanding balance with the university.
  • Students who received institutional financial aid for their spring semester housing and meal plans will be reviewed on an individual basis to determine the grant amount.
  • The remaining grant will be included in your financial aid package for the 2020/2021 academic year.
  • If you would like to donate all or a portion of this amount to either the university or a needy student, please contact financialaid@tusculum.edu for more information on that process.

Commuter students with meal plans

  • Commuters who have purchased dining dollars will be allowed to roll over unused dollars to the 2020 fall term.
