In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Wilson serves as the faculty athletics representative for the university.

During his time at Tusculum, Wilson has worked with many of the local and regional sport properties including Bristol Motor Speedway and Boyd Sports, LLC, to help provide students with experiential learning opportunities. Wilson, a product of Corryton, Tennessee, came to Tusculum after serving 17 years as a sport management professor at Martin Methodist College (now the University of Tennessee-Southern). While at the Pulaski, Tennessee, school, he served as the program coordinator of the sport management department. During his tenure at Martin Methodist, he helped grow the sport management program into one of the biggest and most popular majors on campus.

His students had the opportunity to work events that ranged from the NCAA Women’s Final Four to the NCAA first and second rounds of March Madness to the SEC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships. Graduates of the program went on to secure jobs with Adidas, Wake Forest University athletics, University of Tennessee athletics, Tulane University athletics, the NHL’s Nashville Predators, the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board, the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, the WNBA’s Dallas Wings, Centerplate Event Venue and Catering Services and many other sports organizations.

In addition to his teaching duties, Wilson served as the faculty athletics representative at Martin Methodist for 15 years and worked closely with the governance of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). He served on the Council of Faculty Athletics Representatives for 14 years and was the chair of CFAR in 2015-16, during which time he served on the National Coordinating Committee within the NAIA. During his tenure in the NAIA, Wilson served on the Task Force on Regional Realignment as well as the Initial Eligibility Task Force.

Wilson earned his bachelor’s degree in speech and theater, with an emphasis in speech communication from Middle Tennessee State University; his Master of Science in human performance and sport studies, with a concentration in sport management from the University of Tennessee; and his Master of Business Administration from Northcentral University in business and technology management with a concentration in sports management and leadership. Currently, Wilson is finishing his Doctor of Education, with a specialization in business, from the University of the Cumberlands.
