Chuck Bell joined the Tusculum football staff in the summer of 2017 after spending the two seasons at Warner University in Florida.  Bell will be responsible for the Pioneers’ defensive tackles and bandits while also serving as the program’s special teams coordinator.

While at Warner, Bell coached the linebackers in 2015 and the defensive Line in 2016, in addition to coordinating a majority of the special teams units.  Defensively in 2016, Warner finished top-10 nationally in total defense, rushing defense, opponent passing efficiency, and opponent third-down efficiency.  Additionally, with Coach Bell at the helm of the defensive line, school records were set for sacks in a season (24), sacks in a game (6 vs Arizona Christian), tackles for loss (44), and fewest total rushing yards allowed in a game (4 vs UGC).  At the conclusion of the 2016 season, all four starters on Coach Bell’s defensive line were selected to the All-Conference team and Drew Clark was selected as the 2016 NCCAA National Defensive Player of the Year.

Bell brings NCAA, NAIA and high school coaching experience to the Pioneers.  Overall, Bell has spent seven seasons coaching college football and two seasons in the high school ranks.  Before joining the Warner University football program, Bell served as defensive coordinator at Greenville High School in South Carolina’s largest classification in 2014.

Prior to that, Bell worked in various roles for the University of Florida football program under some of college’s most recognizable names, including Urban Meyer, DJ Durkin, and Will Muschamp.  In addition to working for three of the game’s best college head coaches, Bell worked directly with notable NFL coaches Dan Quinn (Head Coach – Atlanta Falcons), Teryl Austin (Defensive Coordinator – Detroit Lions) and Anthony Weaver (Defensive Line Coach – Houston Texans).

During his time at Florida, Bell was promoted from student assistant to defensive graduate assistant to program assistant of player personnel.  As student assistant, he was a part of two bowl victories including the 2010 Outback Bowl and 2011 Gator Bowl.  For the 2012 season, Bell took over as the lone defensive graduate assistant on a unit which ranked top-10 in the nation in total defense, reached No. 2 in the BCS Poll and produced three NFL first round draft picks (Sharrif Floyd, Dominique Easley, Matt Elam).

In 2013, Bell accepted a full-time position on the Gator football staff as program assistant of player personnel.  In this role, he organized and oversaw the day-to-day functions of the recruiting department, performed initial talent evaluations, and finished the season as the lone full-time recruiting staff member for a nationally ranked top-five recruiting class.

Prior to graduating from the University of Florida, Bell attended the United States Naval Academy for two years where he was a varsity letterman for Navy’s 2007 CSFL Champion Sprint Football team. After earning a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Florida in 2011, Bell spent a year in the Educational Technology master’s program at Florida.

Coach Bell currently lives in Jonesborough, Tennessee with his wife Samantha and his dog, Piglet.
